Scrollane — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 26 July 2026

Scrollane is a small Mac utility for middle-button scrolling. This policy explains what the app and this website do and don't collect. The short version: the app doesn't record what you type, and it doesn't send your activity anywhere.

What the app collects

Nothing about how you use your Mac. Scrollane needs Accessibility permission to see the middle mouse button and the Esc key, because that's how you start, stop, and cancel scrolling. It does not log keystrokes, read your clipboard, or capture your screen. Nothing you type is recorded, stored, or transmitted.

The app connects to the internet in only one situation:

There is no account, no sign-up, no license key, and no activation, so the app never sends your name, your email address, your Mac's name, or your macOS user name. Your settings stay on your Mac.

No payments

Scrollane is free. There is no purchase, subscription, or in-app payment, so we never handle your payment details, and no payment processor is involved.

Support email

If you email support, we see your email address and whatever you choose to write. We use it only to answer you and keep enough of the exchange to handle follow-ups. We don't add you to any marketing list.

This website

The site is served through Cloudflare. We set no cookies, run no advertising trackers, and do not track you across other sites. Cloudflare records standard request information (including IP addresses) as part of delivering and protecting the site, and we see only aggregate, cookieless page-view counts that do not identify you.

Data deletion

To have your support correspondence deleted, email us and we'll remove what we hold. Because there is no account and no purchase record, that correspondence is normally the only thing we have.
